Tsavo West is best visited during the **dry seasons: June to October and January to February**. Mzima Springs — fed by Kilimanjaro's meltwater — offers year-round underwater hippo viewing. The **Shetani Lava Flow** and volcanic landscape are accessible year-round. **July to September** offers the driest conditions and best game viewing around the Tsavo River. Green season (**March to May**) brings lush scenery and birdlife but muddy tracks.

Getting There
Tsavo West is 250km (4 hours) from Nairobi via the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. Enter through Mtito Andei gate. The Nairobi-Mombasa SGR train stops at Mtito Andei. Charter flights from Nairobi Wilson land at Kilaguni or Kamboyo airstrips. The park connects directly with Tsavo East across the highway and with Amboseli via the Kimana corridor.
