Formerly the Selous Game Reserve — Africa's largest protected area with boat safaris on the Rufiji River, walking safaris, and significant wild dog populations.
June to October. Most camps close during the wet season (March-May) when roads flood.
Park fees $60/adult/day. Mid-range camps $300-500/night. Luxury camps $600-1,500/night. Boat safaris and walking safaris usually included.
Bush flights from Dar es Salaam (45min-1hr). Road access is possible but rough (5-6hrs from Dar). Most visitors fly in.
