Best Time to Visit

The Northern Serengeti (Kogatende) is all about the Great Migration river crossings. **July to November** is prime season — the massive herds arrive and attempt the treacherous Mara River crossings, creating one of nature's greatest spectacles. **August to October** is peak crossing season. Outside migration months, the north offers solitude and resident wildlife including big cats, though some camps close from **March to May**.

Budget Guide

Mobile tented camps $300-600/night. Luxury camps (Lamai, Sayari) $700-2,000/night all-inclusive. Park fees $60/adult/day. Most camps include game drives and meals. Balloon safaris $500-600/person. No budget camping available in the far north — nearest is Lobo.

Getting There

Fly into Kogatende Airstrip from Arusha (2 hours) or Seronera (45 minutes). Several scheduled flights daily during migration season (July-November). By road from Seronera: 4-5 hours north through the park. Some camps arrange road transfers from the Kenyan border (Isebania). A combined Mara-Serengeti crossing is possible.
