Best Time to Visit
iSimangaliso is a year-round destination with diverse ecosystems from beach to bush. **November to March** (summer) is best for turtle nesting at Cape Vidal and whale shark season at Sodwana Bay. **June to November** brings humpback whale migration offshore. **May to September** is the cooler dry season — best for general game viewing at the western shores. Birding is exceptional year-round, with migratory species arriving in **October to March**.

Getting There
The gateway town of St Lucia is 275km (3 hours) north of Durban via the N2. King Shaka International Airport (Durban) is the nearest major airport. Richards Bay Airport is 1 hour south. Self-drive is the best way to explore the park's 280km of coastline. The western shore (Hluhluwe) is accessed separately. Sodwana Bay is 90 minutes north of St Lucia.
