Best Time to Visit

Peak season is **Jun – Oct (dry season)**, when wildlife viewing is at its best. The top months to visit are June, July, August, September, October. The dry season (June–October) is best — vegetation thins out and animals concentrate at the park's famous waterholes, including the floodlit ones at the main rest camps for outstanding night viewing.

Budget Guide

Expect to budget **$150–$600** per person per day, all-inclusive of accommodation, meals, and game activities. Park entrance fees run $8/day per person + $8/vehicle. Etosha has some of the lowest entrance fees of any major African park at $8/day per person plus $8/vehicle. Self-drive accommodation in the park's rest camps starts from budget self-catering huts, with guided lodge packages costing more depending on level of luxury.

Getting There

Fly into Hosea Kutako International Airport near Windhoek, Namibia's main international gateway. Etosha's southern gate at Okaukuejo is roughly a 4–5 hour, well-paved self-drive from Windhoek — most visitors rent a vehicle at the airport and drive themselves, since Etosha is one of Africa's best self-drive parks. Charter flights to airstrips near the main camps are also available for those combining Etosha with other Namibian destinations.
